If the cut outs are too large or in the wrong location the joist can be weakened and unable to support the load it was designed for.
Add 1 8 inch of additional length so you can fit.
In this case the bathroom floor framing there cannot be the danger of a structural catastrophe but instead we may have to deal with an excessive deflection.

If it were my house besides the sistering mentioned above i would also add a 6 inch deep joist between each cut down joist to cut the span in half.
