I m working on installing a walk in shower for the first time and i ve seen differing ways of waterproofing the floor.

The floor system is 2 10 joists spaced 12 inches on center. This will create a weak spot. If the cut outs are too large or in the wrong location the joist can be weakened and unable to support the load it was designed for. Add 1 8 inch of additional length so you can fit.

In this case the bathroom floor framing there cannot be the danger of a structural catastrophe but instead we may have to deal with an excessive deflection.
